Getting Started
The user interface of the mobile clients (Android, iOS, and Windows) can be customized using custom XAML definitions. The customization workflow is similar to the XAML customization process used by the Desktop (WinX) client.
Basics
Predefined XAML templates are available and can be overridden as needed. If no customization is provided, the default templates are used.
Default Templates
All customizable default XAML templates can be extracted from the Mobile Windows client via Settings → "Unpack Default XAMLs".
Overriding Default Templates
On Desktop (WinX/UWP), custom XAML files can be added directly to:
[App Package Folder]/LocalState/xaml/
On all supported platforms (including Android and iOS), templates, styles, images, and other resources can also be imported via "Import Customizing" in the app settings. Resources can be imported individually or packaged in a ZIP archive.
Changes are applied immediately and become visible throughout the UI without restarting the application, except on the currently active page. On Mobile Windows, the "Reload Customizing" button can be used to reload customization resources after manual changes.
Differences from Desktop (WinX/UWP)
- Mobile clients use a different XAML dialect and therefore cannot directly consume WinX/UWP customizations.
- Namespace declarations must include the corresponding assembly names.
- Template files use the
.xamlxextension instead of.xaml. - Only resources that need to be customized must be deployed. (This behavior is also supported by newer WinX/UWP versions.)
Tip
For maintainability, deploy only the resources you intend to override.
For example, if you only customize
UBIKChildArea, do not deploy unrelated resources such asUBIKMenuArea. Likewise, if you only customizeUBIKChildItem, only that resource should be included in yourUBIKThemes.
